I have had many rabbits over time, most of which were given to me by families that no longer felt able to take care of them. Some I have managed to rehome and others have lived their lives out with me. At the moment, I only have one mini-lop rabbit who is ageing gracefully. She is happy to be stroked but quickly gets time of being picked up so needs patience and understanding.
Keeping Rabbits
Rabbits are cute but because they scratch and bite, they are not suitable pets for young children but they can be good pets for older children with adult supervision. Rabbits vary greatly in temperament so care should be taken to select a good-natured rabbit that has been handled from young for the best chances of having a pet that is happy and gives pleasure.
I board small pets for £1 per animal per day. The money raised for boarding goes directly to the education charity Porridge and Rice that works among the extreme poor living in the Nairobi slums.
In addition, if you have small animals that you no longer can care for, regardless of the reason, I will happily take them in and rehome them. If I cannot find them a new, good home, they will live their days out at The Farm at 64.
